Munnar is popularly called as "Nature lovers Paradise" "Swiss of South India" and is also called as the “Kashmir of South India”. munnar is a town and hill station located in Set at an altitude of 6000 Ft on the Kannan Devan Hills in Devikulam taluk and is the largest town in the Idukki district covering an area of nearly 557 sq. km. of Western Ghats range of mountains in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. Situated At a distance of 120 km from Kochi, 284 km from Trivandrum, 142 km from Coimbatore, 134 km from Kottayam, 153 km from Thrissur and 150 km from Madurai. The word meaning of Munnar is “Moonnu” meaning three and “Aaru” meaning river ("three rivers")  is referring to its location at the confluence of the Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. ANAMUDI PEAK

Anamudi or Anai Mudi located 13 km from Munnar in Idukki district. a four-hour trek to the north at the height of 2695 meters 8842 feet above sea level is Anamudi Peak. Anamudi is the tallest summit of Western Ghats also known as Sahyadhri range, located in Kerala state with an elevation of 2,695 m (8,842 ft). Anamudi is also the highest peak in South India and the highest point in India outside the Himalaya-Karakoram mountain range. Anamudi is located at the junction of three major hills of the Western Ghats the Cardamom Hills, the Anaimalai Hills and the Palani Hills. Anamudi provides a panoramic view of Mother Nature with scent and sight of tea plantations running across both sides of the road and gigantic mountains wrapped in green coats.

ANAYIRANGAL OR ELEPHANT LAKE

Elephant Lake or Elephant Arrival Lake Is Also known as Anayiranga is located only about 22 km away from Munnar. Numerous elephants from the Munnar forest visit this lake to drink water, so, it is called the Elephant Lake. The name ‘Anayirangal’ is the amalgamation of two Malayalam words; ‘aana’ which means elephant and ‘irangal’ which means descend. As the name suggests, elephant herds come down to drink water from the Dam. There are lake and tea plantation adjacent to the Dam, which adds extra gorgeousness to this reservoir. Like a jade green carpet, the tea plantation plays a major part in attracting tourists. You can be revitalized while strolling through the plantation with the caressing touch of aroma-laden breeze flowing from the plantations. The lake joins hands with the plantation to present the visitors an exquisite beauty to the high range area. You can witness the elephants finding relief from the crystal clear water of the lake. The sight of the elephants playing will be a feast for your eyes irrespective of your age.

ATTUKAL WATERFALLS

Attukal Waterfalls is located between Munnar and pallivasal. situated about 9 km from Munnar in Idukki District of the southern state of Kerala, attukal waterfalls that usually presents a panoramic view of milk is flowing uninterruptedly from the green mountain. It was like a beautiful angel with soft, shimmery and glittery white wings is coming down to earth from heaven. Attukal Waterfalls is one of the most attractive scenes that you can look at during your stay at Munnar. KOLUKKUMALAI

kolukkumalai Being the most astounding natural tea home on the planet, Kolukkumalai is extraordinary compared to other spots to have some tea and trek around. There is a tea production line building worked in 1930 where the tea is prepared generally. The trek starts from Kurangani village at 3,800 Feet and continues up toward a grassland till a single pine tree which is a resting point before entering the forest. From here, the trail is steeply uninterrupted and traverses right into the forest. While hiking through this trail we get mesmerizing views of Kurangani hills and a cool breeze continuously hits our faces.

Eravikulam National Park

Located a 45 - minute drive away from Munnar, the Eravikulam National Park (also known as Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary), houses a rich and diverse variety of flora and fauna and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Elephant, Nilgiri langur, Nilgiri marten, Atlas moth (largest in the world), lion-tailed macaque, small-clawed otter, and a rare tiger or leopard are some of the main animal species that can be spotted here. Eravikulam National Park was managed as a game reserve by the Kanan Devan Hills Produce Company before 1971. The control was taken over by the Karnataka Government in 1971, and it was declared a national park in 1978.
